This is my dream, my passion to recreate the more beautiful parts of Tolkien's world into my own...To merge what I see with what I do not see, to have a blending of his world with mine...To be able finally to walk in the land I have so longed dreamed of...Come walk with me as we make this journey together...

Elven Details

The details can really make or break a room...Ever notice that? A room that just isn't finished, just needs "something" but you don't know what? Its a detail thing...Maybe its just a toss pillow on a chair, a candle on the console or a hundred other little possibilities...In this place that just oozes elven feelings to me I have tried to use very meaningful details that are truly Middle Earth in feel and nature. For example in the "formal" living room with the lovely taupe walls and sage green sheers on windows, there is the elven metal garden bench, so delicate in detail and unique. There is also a lovely twisted and unique vase with guess what? Silk niphiridil and elanor in a lovely arrangement! There is in another spot a lovely unique chair that most won't find anywhere else, its red with lovely gold tacks in a swirling pattern...The red warms and compliments the taupe and sage green. Also there is a tiny little white swan on the corner of the piano that reminds me of the swan boats in Lothlorien....I found another metal vase in green in a unique shape with unusual designs etched on each side, very elven looking. In another room that is spring green and painted like Tolkien describes for Lothlorien you will find a white/silver oversized silk moth I've attached near a door frame. Remember the scene with Gandalf and the moth???? You will also see Frodo's sword hanging near on the wall looking like it belongs there. Galadriel's pitcher sits atop a wardrobe creating a visual wow with the stark simplicity set of against the green wall behind. Sage green curtains with this lovely scroll type embroidery really frame the windows and speak of elven class...When I think of elven I think timeless, unique, beautiful...I think in the elements of wood, metal, and glass...There is also a huge lovely metal wall clock that has these mini shields forming the clock, its stunning and unique and metal which speaks for itself...Its wonderful in its statement that compliments the elven in the rest of the room.

The point I guess trying to make here is find your ME home and set details there that remind you of that place. And if the rest of the decor ie: color etc are in unison these little details will just finish the room like icing on the cake.

If your hobbit then think earthy materials, wood, maybe some simple metal nothing intricate like the elves would want. The walking stick is good, the unsmoked pipe is great. What about some stacked books on a table? Keep furniture and colors earthy and relaxed...A nice simple rug on the floor to tie it all together. I can also see some simple pillar candles for hobbits. What about lantern like the ones uses for storms. A bowl of apples or pears (get the fake ones if worried about having to eat and replace) Have some field flowers (wild flowers or black eyed susan's) in a simple plain vase. One of the globes on a stand would fit in too...Get some nice inviting throws to toss on arm of the couch or chair. Wingbacks are perfect for hobbits...

Sheets were mentioned in an old comment that somehow I missed...I think any earthy color sheets are fine, greens, browns, even whites with plain accents in covers or spreads. Let me say that chocolate brown and sage green are extremely earthy and look lovely together...Pumpkin with brown would also be lovely as would a squash yellow with brown yum! And so hobbity! Flannel sheets this time of year in simple colors, can you imagine a modern hobbit without them?

Must close for now, could just go on and on but won't for now...Tired tonight.

Enjoy, hope this helps....
