Hello Friend!
Deep elven bow in your direction....And hannon le for being here and asking such wonderful questions.
Let me attempt to assist you further with great joy on my part! Love discussing this stuff.
#1 Curtain rod. Well try Walmart or maybe Sears, Target or similar stores for curtain rods that allow you to add your own finials or "ends" to the rods. I remember seeing some a couple of years ago that were extrememly elven by my standards. They were also affordable as well. The finials can REALLY make the rod!
#2 Silver vase ok if no luck yet try this one Pier One, if not close to home look up online. I cannot afford to shop here except for sales. Right now alot of sales due to Christmas time. Also look at Walmart, Target, etc right now. Silver is IN again due to the holiday's and you may just get lucky and find what you are looking for...Keeping my fingers crossed for you. Remember simplicity or uniqueness in your vase. Both will make a statement.
#3 Silver Paint... I have a color that I used as a wall color here with white trim for the waterfall room I did. It almost looks white until against white when you see the silver. I got it at Walmart and the color is caller "Sheer Silver". When doing trim use high gloss. If walls use satin. If you go to Walmart and look up the sample (its free) and find its not deep enough for you then pick a shade in same sample card that is a little deeper but not much... Will try to get by to pick some out myself to give you more options. Soon, promise!
#4 Lack of windows, natural light...feel your pain...What about a mirror? Walmart again has one that I love for around $30. It has this intricate carved deep mahogany colored "wood" frame that looks very West Indies/tropical to me...LOVE IT! Very elven to me...It would reflect more light back into room and add some decor for you. Re: lack of breezes, get a small fan to move the air and create the illusion of a breeze...It will work.
Also have you ever looked into Tatouage Wall murals? They do window sized murals that I love...And again if you catch them on sale its great! But not too expensive even at reg price. Be careful though when looking for this site online! Type it in as tatouage designs.com (believe that is correct) otherwise you end up at a not so nice site that has used the name improperly! You have been warned! Anyways this creates a window with a view for you. It can really make a room. I have one in my kitchen looking out onto a Rivendell style garden with fountain and mountains in the background. It totally helped a bland no where wall...
#5 Wall banner...hmmmmmm, well....I know it can be done. Not sure how handy you are with a sewing machine. My mellon in Greece has made the banner you see in the movie for her room at her home...Time consuming no doubt. If you are game there is also a website called Catscratch.com that is for Ringers who want to recreate the costumes, etc from the books/movies...They may have someone there who has posted details on making such a banner... If you are dead serious about having one I will make a more concerted effort to see if I could find someone to make it for you...You all would have to work out the cost, etc between you but I'd be willing to help you find someone. Let me know.
#6 Cat stand...Hmmmm interesting dilemna...Yes, indeed. Have some ideas popping around in my head, nothing too great yet but the one that keeps coming forward demanding my attention is to somehow just block the thing with something else you'd rather be looking at. Perhaps an Arwen standee? Or another thing you could do is to hang two sheer curtains one on either side of your bed framing it??? Put the cat tree behind this. If you do this though may want to get solid, shimmery fabric panels so you don't see through them.Go with a pale purple, or deep shimmery purple or a shimmery satiny white. Walmart sells these short little rods for cheap. Get two of these, then suspend the rod with either screw hooks or strong thumb tacks in the ceiling. I would get even more creative with these panels and get something called "stitch witchery" at the local fabric store. Its something that you use to iron seams instead of sewing. You could make your own panels using this and buying your own fabric (it will be cheaper than buying curtain panels). Then I'd find some elvish looking trim at the fabric store, silver, deep purple or black even and iron this as a border around the edge of the curtain. Either do down one side and across the bottom or just do the bottom. Curtains should be a little gathered on rod not just hanging flat ok? That would not look good. If you don't like them hanging could use a silver ribbon as tieback...Your choice...
Ok, think I've covered ALL your questions. Hopefully something here will assist you and bring you some peace and joy.
