This is my dream, my passion to recreate the more beautiful parts of Tolkien's world into my own...To merge what I see with what I do not see, to have a blending of his world with mine...To be able finally to walk in the land I have so longed dreamed of...Come walk with me as we make this journey together...

Ilthilien Room Continued...

I recently lost my beloved dog Meagan after 11 wonderful years. Her loss has it me hard. I have been blessed with several distractions though whose timing couldn't be more perfect to help me deal with the immediate shock of losing her... One of these is a little boy turning eight who didn't have a room of his own-yet! His birthday is this month, in fact in a few days andI have decided to surprise him with a special room in time for this big day. It has been very time consuming and thankfully distracting!

Yes! you guessed, its the Ilthilien room!!! Its beautiful so far even though not quite done. I went back and read the post prior on this room and this actual fruition is almost verbatum of what is posted there, lovely!

The walls are a pale, pale yellow green, there are four not two life size (6 foot tall by 50 inch wide) pine trees. Under the trees across the room are two baby fox, two fawns and one fat rabbit! I am painting the ceiling a lovely sky blue and have also free handed a sun on one end of the room. Going to paint some stars and a moon on the blue roof as soon as the roof is painted. It almost takes my breath away every time I walk into this room as it truly looks like you just walked outside into the woods! Its amazing! I am taking pics for you-promise. We are going to put carpet down think its dark green, waiting to see. Have put a wooden bed not painted but stained in there and going to put a dresser that is either wood stained or painted to match the wall color, not sure yet. Also added the pinecone border that gives a real sense of being in the woods and almost wrapped up in them. On one end of the room, near the door and away from the bed I left the border out as its like your out of the woods, the sun is shining there too, from there you "enter" the woods for sleeping etc. Its really amazing... And forgot to mention there is an air duct covering of sheetrock that is being painted blue to match the ceiling. That is where the break in the paper occurred, its on one side and not the other. On the bed going to put bedding that is the warm yellow green to compliment the walls and also brown like wood tones to compliment the room. He wants a waterfall so looking into posters that can be put onto foam board to give a 3-D effect versus actually framing it. Want a more real look to this room. Its not a large room, its only about 9X10 but everything fits and the light wall color actually makes the walls seem to recede behind and around the realistic trees. An old wallpaper hangers trick...Light background with busy prints in forground make for sense of depth! This room truly looks like Ilthilien to me and can't wait till you get to "see" it also. And when you do hope you agree that Faramir is near with his men. And guess have to look close at the waterfall's pool to see if Gollum is fishing again!

Peace,
GG
